Are you on MYGOV? Then you need to know this!

When you sign up for MYGOV, you are given the option to receive letters direct to you from the ATO but what happens if you don’t check your MYGOV account regularly and miss a tax bill?

 

The short answer is, that you will get more letters sent to your MYGOV account chasing payment and then debt collectors will be on your door!

 

Unfortunately, if this option is ticked, we don’t receive your correspondence and can’t give you the heads up on this!

We are finding some clients have not been checking their MYGOV accounts for letters from the ATO and because we are now not receiving the correspondence in our office it is starting to cause some problems.

 

However there’s two ways we can help you with this:

  • You let us know that you have ticked the option to receive letters direct to you and we will make a  note to log into your account with the ATO regularly to double check that no correspondence has been issued; or
  • We can let the ATO know that you are happy for the correspondence to be sent to us, we can check it for you and send it to you directly.

 

If you are on MYGOV and correspondence is being sent to your MYGOV account, please let us know if you would like to change the notification preferences so we still get a copy.  Otherwise we can leave in your capable hands!
