Expressing Gratitude to Clients

As a business owner, your clients are the lifeblood of your business.  Without them, you simply wouldn't have a business.

The holidays present the perfect opportunity to show your appreciation for their support over the past year.  Expressing genuine gratitude can go a long way in strengthening client relationships and long-term goodwill.

Here are some tips for thanking your valued clients this Christmas in a meaningful way:

Personal Message

Rather than sending a generic, mass email blast or holiday card, take the time to craft personal greetings for those that are really important to your business. Make reference to something specific about your experience working together over the past year.  This personal touch shows that you value them and why.

Give Modest Gift

You don't need to go overboard in terms of expense, but a small, thoughtful gift is an excellent way to express your gratitude.  The gift could be something as simple as a subscription box, gourmet food items, high-quality pen and notebook set, or donation to a cause that is meaningful to the client. Be sure the gift is appropriate for the client and your business relationship.  Very much a case of ‘it’s the thought that counts.

Host an Appreciation Event

Depending on the size of your client base, you could host an exclusive appreciation event just for your key clients.  This could be a cocktail party, sit-down dinner, or activity.  The event gives you a chance to mingle with clients in a festive environment while thanking them for their business.  Be sure to limit the guest list to preserve an intimate atmosphere.

Highlight Plans for the New Year

While the primary purpose is expressing thanks, you can also briefly highlight your vision and plans for making their experience with your company even better in the new year.  This plants the seed for continued business while conveying your commitment to delivering exceptional service.

The bottom-line is that a sincere expression of gratitude during the holidays can be a powerful way to appreciate your relationships with key clients.  Seeing and hearing your authentic appreciation can be quite impactful and memorable for the recipient.

It is something we take very seriously at Inspire as we are very grateful for the support we receive.  For instance, we host an appreciation event based on referring business to us (details of the last event are further in the newsletter).  If you have read this and are interested in attending our end of year appreciation party next year, it’s pretty simple to get an invite.  Refer a business friend or family and you are in.
