Too often we see business owners who are a slave to their business and customers.  Below are some steps for you to implement to seize back that control and do business your way, giving you the flexibility, you may desire and the time to do the things that are most important to the success of the business rather than the things that appear most urgent:

• Systemize your processes where you can and where you can’t, make sure everyone in the business understands what good looks like and is striving to achieve it.
• Employ capable and responsible staff who want to see the right results for the business and customers.
• Train the team to deliver the same experience to the customer that you do as the business owner.
• Transfer the customers trust in you to the whole team by talking up the skills, knowledge, attitude and experience of your team to customers.
• Transfer the customer knowledge – ensure that everyone that deals with the customer knows whatever you know about that customer.
• Delegate well – make sure you are doing the key things the business needs form you as the business owner, not what is screaming at you the most.

• Seek feedback from customers to give you the ability to fine tune your service delivery where necessary.
• Take responsibility yourself for mistakes made by the team but give credit to the team for successes. This way the customer believes in your team are your, successes are the team’s.
• Don’t be the hero – while the customer believes that you are the one responsible for creating all the good in the business rather than the team, they will always want to deal with you personally.
