In this edition we discuss putting together individual and team incentives to create Win Win situations for both of you. What's in it for me? As an employer it is important for us to think about the employee and “what’s in it for them” to really get the change we are trying to instill in both the employee and the business
A survey of employees recently found that career progression and mentoring was more important that financial rewards.
With this in mind for motivating your employees to achieve in your business, it is important that you are able to demonstrate to your team how the business goals align with career development and training.
Each employee is different – has different values, different family circumstances, different financial pressures and determining that key to driving and delivering “what’s in it for me” is crucial in successfully getting engagement to your business goals.
The next employee you meet with may value flexibility in their working conditions higher than career progression. Being aware of their circumstances and tailoring their employment to provide ‘win win’ situations for both the business and your employee. For each employee, write down what you think would make them tick, ask them outright in the interview or the next review and see if you can incorporate this into their employment.
